SIGA Polytechnic College Conducted the Workshop on Career Opportunity under the guidance of IIC. They organized the Entrepreneurship as a Career Opportunity workshop on 19th Nov 2022 at St. Zatti Hall. Mr. Antony Firmin Alexander was the resource person on the day. This event started with a felicitation ceremony. Rev.Fr. Sathish Paul welcomed the gathering and felicitated the resource person. 60 students from Third Printing Technology and 4 faculties of the Printing department taken part in the program. The program was coordinated by Mr. Ragavanantham, Lecturer of Chemistry. Mr. Kannan, SIGA Polytechnic College.
Mr. Fredrick Started to talk about Entrepreneurship with a few questions to the students. In the beginning, He started with a question Who is Entrepreneur? He explained the types of entrepreneurs like builders, Opportunists, innovators, and Specialists. Secondly, the types of entrepreneurships are small businesses and Entrepreneurship, startups and scalable startups, and large companies. He briefed about 6 types of startups. How to become an entrepreneur, steps involved in entrepreneurship, attributes of entrepreneurship, financial support system, legal and taxation process. Then he got into these streams of difference between innovation and innovator, inventor, and invention. He elaborated on the eight fields of innovation Product & Product Performance Innovation, Technology Innovation, Business Model Innovation, Organizational Innovation, Process Innovation, Marketing / Sales – New Channel Innovation, Network Innovation, Customer Engagement / Retention, and four types of innovations are Incremental Innovation, Architectural Innovation, Disruptive Innovation, and Radical Innovation. He brainstormed with students on Ideation Innovation, and segmentation. Then he moved on to explain about five stages of Innovation. He said Ideation Management was the “idea” part of idea management is about generation.
Ideation can come from many sources, so you want to make it quite easy for customers, teammates, and partners to send and share their thoughts. The “management” part requires sorting and prioritizing the most relevant ideas against your strategy, so you can then enhance an existing product or experience or create a new one. then he explained about major innovative areas in printing and packaging, major innovative areas in printing subtracts. Eventually, the resource person made visibility in the field of printing and packaging. He has counted the avenue in print ink. he gave innovative ideas in packaging, using chemicals, print finishing, and converting. He noted that the Major Innovative and Scientific Projects works are being processed now. He differentiated those projects into pre-press, press, and post-press (packaging) according to the printing process. He displayed a few successful start-up products from Packaging Industry. He gave various resources for students’ reference to use to become Successful Entrepreneurs.
