Pongal celebration was celebrated in our college on 12.01.2024 with great joy and enthusiasm. Pongal, the harvesting ceremony is time of expressing gratitude to nature for the bountiful harvest and celebrating the spirit of togetherness.
The celebration commenced with the traditional Pongal preparation, where students gathered house wise around a decorated earthen pot to cook the special dish known as “Pongal.” The aroma of freshly harvested rice, jaggery, and other ingredients filled the air as the pot bubbled over, symbolizing prosperity and abundance.
Pongal Cooking Competition:
Members of various houses actively participated in the cooking competition. The traditional way of cooking pongal over an open flame fostered a sense of unity and cooperation, with everyone contributing to the preparation of the delicious dish. At last the Blue House prepared a delicious Pongaland won the best Pongal of 2024.
Decorations and Rangoli:
The campus was decorated with vibrant decorations, including traditional Kolams (Rangoli) made with coloured powders and flowers pedals. These intricate designs added a festive touch to the surroundings, creating a visually appealing atmosphere.
Traditional Attire:
Students dressed in traditional attire, reflecting the cultural significance of the festival. The campus was a sea of colourful traditional clothing, contributing to the overall festive atmosphere.
Feast and Sharing
Following the Pongal cooking and pooja, a communal feast was organized, where everyone gathered to share the freshly prepared Pongal and other festive delicacies. This communal meal fostered a sense of unity and joyous sharing among the participants.
Traditional Games and Activities: Traditional games and activities, such as TUG-Of-War (கயிறு இழுத்தல் போட்டி) was organized to add an element of fun and excitement among the six houses. The activity brought people together and added a playful sprit to the festivities.
Pongal celebration at our college was a heart welcoming and culturally enriching experience, fostering a sense of community and unity among all the staff and students. It served as a reminder of the importance of gratitude, cooperation and celebration of thanks giving
