“Respect yourself and take pride in who you are,” quoted Rev. Fr Maria Arockia Kanaga, Regional Superior- South Asia, on his visit to SIGA as an ambassador of Most Rev. Fr. Angel Fernandez Artime, SDB, the Rector Major of Salesians.
Fr. Maria Arockia Kanaga in his speech said that he had met many students of SIGA working in various countries during his visits abroad. He said that he was happy to be among the students at SIGA. He said that students should first respect themselves and never feel inferior due to the colour, caste or creed. He told that such act will greatly offend our creator. He requested the students to give up such feelings of inferiority and rather respect themselves and celebrate their life which will ultimately bring Almighty’s grace and blessings upon them. He insisted that the students should make use of the opportunities in the right time and come up in life. He assured all of them his sincere prayers.
Fr. Maria Arockia Kanaga presided over a special assembly at SIGA Polytechnic College on his two-day extraordinary visitation which takes place once in six years. Fr. John Christy, Secretary of the college welcomed him and felicitated him by adorning a shawl and Fr. P.T. Joseph, the principal presented a bouquet. Fr. P.T. Joseph also gifted a sapling to be planted as the Golden Jubilee Memorial Tree in the campus.
Fr. Christy spoke about his association with Fr. Maria dating back to his days in college when he was doing his Theology along with Fr. P.T. Joseph. He said that Father Maria is an extremely talented person who has played multiple roles in his priestly career. He also added that Father is the right person to look up to for his wisdom and friendly approach.
After the assembly Fr. Maria posed for photographs with the students, staff and SIGA Press workers. He also went around the campus accompanied by Fr. P.T. Joseph, Principal and Fr. Anand, Vice Principal and visited the classrooms, college office, staff room, laboratories, library, museum and SIGA Press.
