The selection process for the WorldSkill 2021 was conducted at the National Level in the name of India Skill 2020. WorldSkills International is the largest skill competition in the world, organised once every two years in one of the member countries to bring out the best in over 50 skills.
WorldSkills India is an initiative of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship which has been leading India’s participation at WorldSkills International competitions since 2011. Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation conducted the District-cum-State-Level competition on Monday, 27 January 2020 at SIGA Polytechnic College.
The competition was on Print Media Technology. Mr. Fredrick, HOD of SIGA Polytechnic College and Mr. Peter Nirmalraj, Lecturer, were in the jury. The representatives from Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation, the organisers were present. The contestants Ms. Elakiya Sree and Mr. Ponmareeswarn qualified for the next level competitions. The organisers and the participants appreciated the arrangements made by SIGA and told that they would recommend SIGA as the venue for the future events.
Forty four participants from various places enrolled in the competitions. The competition requires the contestant to involve in all the aspects of printing process from initial planning and preparation, through the print run, checking for consistent quality to cleaning up after the print run is complete.
