The Department of Student welfare in collaboration with SIGA Polytechnic college management and staffs organized an Awareness Program on Alcohol & Substance Abuse on 19th January, 2023. Rev. Dr. Siluvai Muthu SDB was the resource person of the event.

The objective of the event was to create awareness on alcohol and substance abuse, to clarify myths and facts about alcohol addiction and to make the students to understand the impact of addiction.

Various slides, documents and videos that depict the ill effect of Drugs and Substance abuse were presented and played to the gathering that made the students community understand the non-reversable effect of the addicted person.

The session also highlighted the various avenues available for people wiling to come out of addiction through various de-addiction programs and practice that can cure and make a person lead a normal life.

During the valedictory session Mr.Arockia Celastine Selvaraja, Lecturer, Department of English, appreciated and thanked Rev. Dr. Siluvai Muthu for his noble deed and our Student-People leader Head of Department, Printing Technology presented the speaker a Shawl to felicitate the resource person. About 140 students of the institution along with staff members attended the event.
