“Make use of the opportunities when it comes to you, put your heart and soul in your studies to attain success,” said Mr. V. Krishnamoorthy, the Deputy High Commissioner, Sri Lanka Deputy High Commission, Southern India, the chief guest for the function to the students in his speech. He appreciated the fact that though being a single entity without much support, the college is in par with any other reputed educational institutions. Mr. S. Thangaraj, Chief General Manager, Indian Oil Corporation Limited who was the other chief guest invited for the function said, “No matter what your family’s financial background is, if you have the determination, hard work and confidence you will come up in life.” He came forward and vouched his support personally for the students who are coming from poor financial background. Both the chief guests gave speeches full of inspiration and motivation. They also shared about the hurdles they faced in their lives and how they tackled and succeeded during their speech on the College Day held on Sunday 1, March 2020 at the DB Hall, SIGA Campus.
Fr. John Christy, Secretary of the college welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guests. He thanked the dignitaries for their presence and precious time they were willing to allot for the function. Fr. P.T. Joseph, Principal and Fr. Anand, Vice Principal felicitated the chief guests with a shawl and memento. The annual report for the academic year 2019-2020 was presented by Fr. P.T. Joseph, Principal of the college. The chief guests then presented the awards and medals to the students and staff of the college and also the staff of the SIGA Press.
Later that evening the students presented a folk dance, a mime, a small skit on the addiction to mobile phones, and a western dance. Mr. Fredrick, the Head of the Department, proposed the vote of thanks.
