Handpicked students of SIGA interested in making their careers in creative arts and paintings are being trained by Mr. Johnson on campus. The recent project by them on creation of the National Bird in acrylic on canvas shows the outcome of the training. As a part of imparting practical knowledge in the field of Art they visited the Christian Art Gallery at Bricklin Road, Chennai on February 4, 2020.
Mr. Joseph Mohanraj is a past pupil of SIGA. Christian Art Gallery is the brainchild of Mr. Mohanraj. “I decided to open this gallery keeping in mind two things, one that these paintings should be common and acceptable by all and the next is that these paintings should be affordable by all in the society,” he told in an interview published by The Hindu recently. The paintings had a theme to each one of them. From The days of Moses, Judas’ Kiss, The Good Samaritan to The Last Supper, his paintings showcased the art of painting with the modern digitalized technology. The students interacted with Mr. Mohanraj and he eagerly answered them. He gave an in-depth idea on learning art along with some tips to the young artists.
