SYNAPES ’19, Transmitting the Cultural Fragrance A one-day cultural fest was held for the budding student technicians from Salesian Technical Institutions, on the 2 nd of February at SIGA Polytechnic College, Chennai. The Technical Education Commission of the Chennai Province, organized this event for the first time to bring out the talents of the youngsters. Around 9 institutions participated and Don Bosco Polytechnic College, Basin Bridge bagged the overall Championship. The other two Don Bosco Polytechnic Colleges were from Thirukazhundram and Kilpauk.
Since the Technical Commission focuses on ITI for this academic Year, all the students from 3 ITIs namely Polur, Kavarapettai, and Katpadi were invited. About 400 participants teamed up and competed for the six events. The nonformal 3-year diploma students from Cuddalore, Bagalur, and Kilpauk gave a tuff competition to other established institutions. The eyes were feasted with a lively display not only of South Indian genre, but also the Punjabi Bhangra from the North, and the Khasi Dance from the North East. The youngsters had a break from their regular technical routine and utilized the opportunity to exhibit their love for the culture.
This initiative is a part of a Triple Fest which includes a sports meet held at Basin Bridge, and a job fair to be held at Tirukazhukunram. All these festive ventures are intended to offer a holistic formation to the young generation, realizing the charism of Don Bosco for the millennials.
