In pursuit of providing skills and trade-oriented education to the youth, SIGA – Salesian Institute of Graphic Arts, 49, Taylors Road, Kilpauk, Chennai 600010, has always endeavoured to incorporate the latest technology and knowledge in their courses.
Besides installing two 4-colour and one 8-colour Heidelberg sheetfed offset printing presses for training their students in printing and packaging technology, SIGA is always on the lookout for collaborating with technology partners for providing a platform for imparting the best education.
SIGA has now signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with Next Generation 3D Printers Pvt. Ltd (NexGen), 24/A, West Canal Bank Road, Kotturpuram, Chennai 600 085, to provide 3D Printing Training Programme through skill enhancement of the Technical and Engineering students through class room and industry specific practical training ensuring quality delivery towards excellence in 3D Printing.
The agreement is operated through The Principal of SIGA and Director of NexGen which can be started at SIGA initially, and may be emulated at other Don Bosco Skill Development centres.
OBJECTIVES OF MOU
The objectives of this MOU is to design, develop and deliver programmes ensuring required quality in 3D Printing domain which in turn will lead to professional courses as per the industry requirements and making aspirants employable. It will be a quality skill enhancement partner and projects/system integrator for corporate and government agencies. It will ensure Faculty Development Programmes (FOP) for institutions and skill training partners working closely with industry.
While enhancing the skills of students/aspirants through internship and vocational training, it will be playing an effective role in the ongoing Govt. initiative on “Skill Development Mission” with a view to contribute to the overall target of skilling / up skilling 500 million people in India through p-p-p (public-private-partnership) programmes in skill development. It will also be making efforts towards setting up a “Centre of Excellence” in order to enhance the competency level of aspirants and the faculty for Technical & Engineering education.
