SIGA Polytechnic College organized the Workshop on Empowering the Minds through Second Language Learning for their First-Year students on 23 Sep 2022 at their Communication Skills Lab. The resource persons of the workshop are Prof. A. Augustine M.A., PhD., Department of English, Sacred Heart College, Tiruppatur. And Mr. Sivagnanam M.A., B.Ed., M.Phil., Ample English Academy, Chennai-42. 

The workshop started with the felicitation of resource persons. Fr. P.T Joseph SDB, Principal, and Mr. Wasim Raja, Lecturer felicitated the chief guest with a shawl. Rev. Fr. Sathish Paul SDB, Vice Principal addressed the importance of communication skills to GDC I students. The session started with Self Introduction of the Students. They started with different stories to motivate the students. It was known as an ice-breaking session for the students. They conducted the placement test for the evaluation of students’ English levels. 

The next session was about functional grammar which can be applied to daily communication. They briefed about basic grammar and practices are given on using grammar topics like Parts of Speech, application tenses, etc., The final session is all about listening and speaking skills. Various activities are given to the participants as a team which brings out their extra talent coupled with the usage of English. 

Finally, a feedback session with the participants was organized to reflect on their experience in one workshop.
